Hi Gib, the New York Times article you posted makes reference to “banning YouTube is like banning books…” (Mr. Fluharty) something I had not considered until now.
As there are many books we would not recommend, so are there videos we would not watch. Therefore, I applaud the decision by the district to give access to YouTube to teachers in Chicago schools.
While reading the article, I was mostly interested in the paragraph about Karen Mensing making videos of herself teaching a particular lesson, so students who missed classes would have a chance to “attend” the lecture later.
I would be interested in learning about your YouTube experiences in your classroom.
